This classroom building is part of the “BAT cave” that was named for a sculptor, educator, and cultural leader who seized Chicago as a place of opportunity. PSPM’s Sustainability Internship Program (SIP) and an Industrial Engineering Design Team researched restroom water usage in this building and found that there is a quick payback—less than 1 year— for retrofitting these regularly used restrooms currently equipped with automatic and/or high-flow fixtures to manual and low-flow fixtures.
