Carbon Neutral Campus Goal: UIC will strive to achieve carbon neutrality with net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through reducing and offsetting emissions related to operations and travel.

Reducing energy use in laboratories by effectively managing equipment is an important step in reaching UIC’s goal to be fully carbon neutral by 2050. Many College of Medicine laboratories in this 8-story Research Building have joined the movement to make UIC a more Energy Conscious Campus by signing up for the Freezer Challenge. One of the winners of 2020 belonged to Dr. Prins lab on the 5th floor who helped save 38 kWh per day!
