American Forest Tree Planting 2017

Date(s) - 05/12/2017
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Chicago Circle Memorial Grove

Did you know that UIC has been a designated Tree Campus USA since 2011? This event will satisfy the Arbor Day Observance Event (one of five standards we must adhere to each year).

UIC is dedicated to the health and preservation of its campus forest! The UIC Grounds department works tirelessly to maintain our green infrastructure, and this is your opportunity to contribute to the UIC Climate Commitments!

UIC will be the lucky recipient of 30 new trees from the generous donor, American Forests. Volunteers from the Washington, D.C. based company, along with the Morton Arboretum and the Chicago Region Trees Initiative will be placing 2.5″ caliper trees into pre-dug holes.

Volunteers can check in beginning at 12:45 pm in the Grove, with a safety and planting instruction from trained professionals shortly after. Volunteers will then break into small groups, led by professionals, to plant, mulch, and water the trees.

Refreshments provided, but please BYORWB (Bring Your Own Reusable Water Bottle) 😉

Fill out the form below if you are interested in volunteering and spending your afternoon planting trees.
