Paid Summer Internships through the Office of Sustainability

Are you and undergraduate or do you know UIC undergraduate students looking for paid summer internships?
Applications are now open for the UIC Office of Sustainability Internship Program.  This undergraduate internship program offers a wide range of opportunities across numerous fields and departments.  Internship positions include opportunities in research, fieldwork, project planning, project management, and more.  Positions are open to undergraduate students who will be enrolled in undergraduate coursework in the fall term.  Students across all majors are welcome to apply.  Positions are for up to 15hrs/week during the summer session from June 1st to August 7th.  Interns are placed in various campus departments where they can make a real impact on their school while gaining real-world experience.
Besides working on their projects, interns will also attend weekly seminars or field outings on a range of educational and skill building topics including energy issues, cultural sustainability issues, institutional challenges and change management, campus structure and administration, campus sustainability, and job readiness. At the end of the semester, students will participate in a final presentation and reception.
The application for these internships is open until April 1st.

Sustainability Internships with Seven Generations Ahead

SGA is seeking candidates for full-year and partial-year internships with institutions providing academic credit for student involvement with local agencies and non-profits. Work opportunities can relate to current SGA programs or specific skills (web design, graphic arts, marketing, database management, etc.) that support SGA operations

Videography Intern

The student would get to know our organization through research (online, through archives and personal interviews) and would then develop a plan for a 10 min. film on the history of our work in the Midwest.  Once approved, the student would schedule shoots and compile film to edit into the final 10 minute film.

Sustainable Communities Public Policy Intern

Students will help organize and participate in meetings with community stakeholders as new sustainability policies are designed and implemented.  Students will gather and analyze data and use the results to inform program development.

Zero Waste Intern

Interns will prepare materials and information for school lunchroom audits.  They will help to guide students and parents through the audit and will analyze the data and present the results to the school and CPS.  Interns will also gather data and develop next steps for the We Compost program being piloted in Oak Park, IL.  Support for regional sustainable communities programs is needed as well (i.e. Healthy West Chicago).
